Network Specifications
The communication between the AKCess Pro Server and the sensorProbe units is based on a normal TCP/IP protocol. As long as they can connect to each other, you can add the sensorProbes to the AKCess Pro Server. This depends on your network administrator to design the network topology. Here is the communication protocol used in our system:
Communication from the AKCess Pro Server to the sensorProbes.
SNMP (Default Port 161 UDP)
Communication from the securityProbe to the AKCess Pro Server.
RPC (Default Port 5000 UDP/TCP)
For example, if the sensorProbe is behind the NAT, you will have to port forward to the sensorProbes Port 161. And from the AKCess Pro Server side you will have to do port forwarding to the Server Port 5000. If the sensorProbe and the AKCess Pro Server are on a different LAN you can set up Virtual LAN to make these nodes able to talk to each other over the switch.
