The majority of genset failures are “Fauilure To Start” errors. Much of the time this can be attributed to insuficient fuel. Fuel theft is also a problem for many generators, particularly those at remote site locations which are difficult to monitor and secure. Ultrasonic fuel level sensors can be deployed to tackle many of these comon issues.

Ultrasonic fuel level sensors work with any sensorProbe+ or securityProbe device, connecting to a single sensor port. Alerts can be sent through SNMP, E-mail, and SMS (with optional cellular data modem). Remote site locations can be monitored from our central monitoring software AKCP Pro Server, which includes drill-down mapping and customizable desktops to display the data you need.

sensorProbe+ and securityProbe devices are Modbus ready, making a connection with many generator control panels easy via their Modbus RS485 output. Combined with an Ultrasonic Fuel Level Sensor it gives you a complete remote site generator monitoring solution.

Ultrasonic Tank Sensors bounce high-frequency sound waves off the liquid’s surface. By timing the return of this wave the level of liquid in the tank can be established.

AKCP provide two versions, the invasive, top mounted sensor and non-invasive bottom mounted.

Invasive tank sensors require the cutting of a hole in the top of the tank for installation. This can easily be achieved with a hole saw. A standard SAE5 hole layout makes the mounting pattern easy to drill.

Non-Invasive tank sensors mount to the bottom of the tank. Held in place with an Epoxy Resin they require no cutting of the tank for installation, making them easier and faster to install.

Depending on your access to the tank (buried or above ground) and your ability to cut holes in the tank will determine which sensor is right for you.

Both sensors contain no moving parts and so, are suitable for low maintenance and remote site installations.
