A Pratical Example

A company has multiple unattended remote fueling sites nationwide. The companies management has noticed inconsistencies between their remote fueling sites nationwide.
One station in particular seems to have fallen prey to regular theft. Management does not currently have the tools or information needed to accurately assess what needs to be done from this point forward.
Objective One:
To determine if the company is the victim of ongoing fuel theft or if certain locations are being inefficiently operated or maintained.
Objective Two:
To take appropriate action to rectify the theft problem and to run their sites with more effectively and with higher profitability.
How AKCP can help...

Remote fueling sites will be monitored using AKCP Access Control technology. Implementing AKCP’s Door Control Unit (DCU) at each location will provide the necessary software to accurately analyze the company’s fuel usage.

Two of AKCP’s high definition cameras will be placed at each remote fueling station capturing live feeds and recorded footage of both the tank and the pump itself.
Motion detectors are installed as an energy saving technique so that cameras only record when necessary.
The tank will be monitored using AKCP’s Ultrasonic Fuel Sensor to monitor fuel levels in the tank 24 hours a day. Fuel flow to the pump is restricted until an employee with proper security clearance logs in using AKCP’s biometric reader. Once the pump user has had their fingerprint scanned the pump is enabled for use.
Employees name, times and fuel levels used are recorded at all times so as to provide the information needed for management to implement cost saving policies and procedures.

SMS messages will be sent out via the GSM modem connected to the DCU, providing company directors instant notifications if fuel levels fall below appropriate levels or fall to an appropriate level but drop at quicker than normal intervals.
The EDGE-180 Modem is ideal for remote locations where a Door Control Unit is being used to monitor and control access to critical resources. |
When using an EDGE-180 Modem use the "Heartbeat" feature to "Push" Sensor and Picture Log information at predefined intervals. If an open connection can be established all of the time, the Door Control Unit has a built in "Secure openVPN" feature which can connect seemlessly to AKCess Pro Server. This modem is ideal for remote locations where a Door Control Unit is being used to monitor and control access to critical resources. Once connected to the Door Control Unit you can use the usual notification and alerting functions to: Send SMS, MMS and Voice call alerts instantly from the Door Control Unit. Connect wirelessly to the AKCess Pro Server Application. |
Management will know who accessed the fuel, when they accessed the fuel and for how long in addition to how much fuel was used during all pumping transactions. Information will be presented in customizable graphs and video footage is available for all events.
The Results
Directors were able to determine that they were the victim of theft at one of their locations. Several slow tank leaks were discovered due to the Ultrasonic Fuel Level Sensor. Tanks were quickly repaired saving the company thousands of dollars in previously lost and wasted product.
Employee usage was observed over several months and new access procedures were implemented to more efficiently run the company. The overall end result was higher profitability due to saving thousands of dollars giving the company a ROI in just a couple short months.
The Ultrasonic Fuel Level Sensor (UFLS)
If your business infrastructure relies on backup generators, the chances are you are also relying on fuel to power those. By using the AKCess Pro Fuel Level Sensor you can ensure that your fuel tanks are filled and ready for the most critical moments.
The AKCess Pro Ultrasonic Fuel Level Sensor is a liquid level detector that will monitor the level of liquid in a tank and display this level on the Door Control Unit's web interface and send alerts accordingly.
The RJ-45 intelligent sensor port on base unit powers the sensor. It is compatible with the Door Control Unit or securityProbe5ES unit's and the E-sensor 8 expansion modules.
You can instantly be alerted should there be any drop below critical levels in your fuel. Advance alerting, including an additional feature that alerts you if you tank level is dropping too quickly, protects you from possible fuel leaks or theft and ensure your tanks never run dry again.
The sensor assembly incorporates an advanced tank sender based on the ultra sonic measurement technology that can monitor a variety of liquids in many types of tanks. These tank level thresholds can then be linked to the advanced notification alerts on the Door Control Unit's web interface.
This sensor is designed for monitoring levels of water, diesel, petrol fuel and waste tanks. These tanks can be in linear and non-linear sizes as they are easily calibrated from a simple wizard that is run from the Door Control Unit's web interface. Linearization parameters are used to adjust the measurement accuracy for non-linear fuel tanks. For example a fuel tank is non-linear if the tank height is not proportional to its capacity.
The low profile design and standard SAE 5 hole mounting pattern make it easy to install and setup and it has no moving parts for long lasting functionality.
