Inline Power Meter
Installed in-line between the electrical source and a basic power strip or individual appliance, the power meter monitors voltage (V), current (A), and energy consumption (kWh) with billing-grade accuracy.
For advanced control, an optional relay enables remote power switching of connected devices. Designed for maximum reliability, it utilizes a bi-stable latching relay that safely retains its On/Off state even in the event of a power loss to the sensor.
Inline Power Meter
The AKCP In-Line Power Meter provides a seamless, easy-to-install upgrade path to transform standard, low-cost power strips into fully intelligent power distribution systems. Designed for rapid deployment, it delivers comprehensive power monitoring and optional power switching without the premium cost or proprietary lock-in of traditional smart PDUs.
Critical Data for sensorCFD Accurate power data is foundational for data center optimization. The In-Line Power Meter acts as a direct, essential input for sensorCFD. By providing precise power-per-rack metrics to complement your cabinet thermal maps, it enables the generation of highly accurate Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) calculations for targeted cooling and efficiency improvements.
Essential Power Management Monitoring up to 16 In-Line Power Meters from a single sensorProbe+ base unit, this sensor is vital for:
Capacity Planning: Ensuring sufficient power overhead before adding new equipment to a circuit.
Load Monitoring: Checking how close your cabinets are to tripping their circuit breakers.
Client Billing: Tracking accurate, individual power usage for clients in co-located services.
The Advantage of a Decoupled Controller By removing the intelligence from the power strip itself and moving it to the sensorProbe+, you unlock several operational and cost-saving advantages:
Consolidated Management: Use a single IP address to monitor power across multiple cabinets.
Zero Downtime Maintenance: The controller is hot-swappable. If servicing is needed, your cabinets stay online.
Maximized 0U Space: Moving the controller out of the power strip frees up valuable physical space for more outlets.
Future-Proof Infrastructure: As your power needs scale, simply swap out the basic “dumb” power strip. There is no need to buy a new controller or power meter.
Optional Switching & Cabinet-Level Safety
When equipped with the optional power switching relay, the In-Line Power Meter provides proactive cabinet safety. By pairing the meter with an AKCP smoke detector inside the cabinet, the system can automatically cut power to a specific rack if smoke is detected. This eliminates the energy source of a potential fire, isolating the incident to a single cabinet and preventing escalation into a catastrophic data center shutdown or the costly deployment of facility-wide gas suppression systems.
