AKCP COVID-19 Operational Update
As the COVID-19 Pandemic sweeps the globe AKCP has been taking the necessary measures to ensure that we can continue to support our customers and keep products shipping. We took measures a month ago as the situation was developing to order stock of parts for our most popular products.
All of our engineering and support staff have moved to home-based work so that in the event of any lockdown we are prepared. Our R&D team are in full force as we take this downtime to work on new products.
AKCP is a leading manufacturer of electronic monitoring equipment. We have been requested by The Health Organization of the Philippines to develop a portable monitoring system for use in their roadside testing of COVID-19. They want to ensure that the temperature of their test kits does not exceed -20°c. We have also developed a monitoring solution for medical isolation tents that may be setup as isolation units outside hospitals.
Our factory is in the Philippines and we have good relationships there having successfully completed projects for the US and Philippine military such as the monitoring of remote solar-powered observation posts.
The Philippines is currently under community quarantine lockdown. This means even though factories have not been shut down, the movement of people is severely restricted. In order to overcome this situation, we have a skeletal staff of 12 people, around 10% of our workforce, who volunteered to remain billeted inside the factory for the duration of the lockdown, so that we can continue to keep products flowing and supply the demands for the COVID-19 test Kit monitoring system.
Currently, we have reduced production capacity, and some staff are filling in roles they would not usually be doing. Our management staff are guiding them remotely via video chat to continue overseeing the work being done. Please bear with us through this difficult time, we are striving to continue to meet customers deadlines and needs, but there may be some slippage in delivery dates.
