AKCP Announces sensorCFD™
AKCP, the world’s oldest and largest supplier of networked wired and wireless sensor solutions has announced their sensorCFD™ tools for AKCPro Server.
AKCP sensorCFD™ is a tool for predicting the airflow in a data center. You can use this to improve the circulation of air in the data center, saving cooling costs, and limiting hot air mixing with cold air and avoiding overcooled racks and undercooled racks.
This CFD package is available as a free download. The tool is appropriate for data centers managers and service providers, advising their data center customers. AKCP also offers a low-cost service of creating a model of your data center and submitting simulations. This free product compares with data center CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools priced at $25,000 per year, per seat.
Example of analysis done on rack airflow using sensorCFD
Draw your data center using the included CAD drawing program contained in sensorCFD. We suggest that you start with a single containment pod. Once the physical design is input, you add the active values. The active values would include the temperature at the front and rear of each rack, along with the kW of power for each rack, and the temperature and airflow in and out of the CRAH. Once this data is input you can run the simulation and examine the results.
The next step is where AKCP stands alone. Any AKCP sensor can be added to the simulation giving you a real-time picture of how your data center is performing. The more sensors, the more accurate your simulation.
