Hello AKCP,
I am a bit confused on the AKCP CLOUD features that you offer. Can you please explain each one in detail and also help on my questions below? I seem to be having problems with my connections to the AKCPro Server CLOUD. Is my account setup properly and if so, what could be my problem?

Hello AKCP Customer,
Thanks for your questions on this. Please see below for the answers.
AKCP Support Team
Yes, we offer three types of AKCP CLOUD features.
SP+ WebUI access on the Cloud (CloudUI) – The first service can connect your SP+ base unit to our cloud server and enable you to access its WebUI from anywhere, provided that you have an internet connection. This is very similar to port forwarding a device’s WebUI port through your router so you can access it anywhere on the internet – we recommend enabling password checking to prevent unauthorized access. This connection is using VPN, so you cannot use it together with other cloud features! Also, when you’re using this service, you won’t be able to connect the SP+ base unit to any (local or cloud) APS (AKCess Pro Server). This service requires a license to use.
APS on the Cloud – The second is hosting your own AKCPro Server software installation on the Cloud. This can allow you to access your local APS installation from anywhere, provided that you have an internet connection. Please note that connecting devices to a cloud APS is only possible via VPN, and you would need to set up all required options, as you would on a local installation. We have a documentation for this, but it’s only recommended for advanced users.
SP+ on our APS Cloud Server – The third is the AKCPro Server CLOUD feature which allows you to add your units to our APS cloud installation. This allows you to utilize the advanced features of our APS DCIM software, but without having to install APS yourself locally, or in the cloud. And you will be able to access your units anywhere you have an internet connection. This connection is using VPN, so you cannot use it together with other cloud features! Also, when you’re using this service, you won’t be able to connect the SP+ base unit to any other local or cloud APS (AKCess Pro Server). This service requires a license to use, but the first-year access is free (see below).
Q: I seem to be having problems with my connections to the AKCPro Server CLOUD. Is my account setup properly and if so, what could be my problem?
A: You should be able to proceed directly to the apscloud.akcp.com page and create an account, then sign in to your new account and add your device via its MAC ID. This new cloud account is free for up to 4 devices for a year. You will need to turn on the server integration and enable the APS cloud in the SP+ web UI (see below for a screenshot of this option).
If you’re still having issues, the first detail to check would be to ensure your base unit is the H7 type. The previous F4 & F7 type SP+ base units will not work on the APS-Cloud. Make sure your SP+ base unit is running the firmware version v1.0.6026 or later. The firmware can be downloaded from our support portal here; https://www.akcp.com/support-center/firmware-updates/
Make sure the APS-Cloud account has been setup for your SP+ base unit. This may have been missed, or not communicated to our local AKCP re seller whom you purchased our equipment from. Check with them on this.
If they have not set this up for you yet, please contact our Sales team ([email protected]) and request the account including your company name and the SP+ unit(s) MAC ID.
You will receive the account details as follows (as an example);
Login name: jimsdatacenter
Password: adminXX
If you have enabled it, make sure that you disable the “Cloud Server” option and reboot the unit.
This is for another feature, the Cloud WebUI that allows you to access the unit’s web interface from anywhere, similar to doing a port forwarding on your home router (as explained above).
The cloud APS connection will not work with this enabled, as both options are using VPN technology, and only 1 can be active at a time.
For using AKCPro Server CLOUD the correct option to use is here, under Server Integration:
Q: What if the customer does not have an Internet connection? Can they connect using the AKCP internal modem?
A: Yes, this is possible. You will need to select the internal modem to be “Always Dial Out” so you will not use the Ethernet connection. For using AKCPro Server CLOUD feature you do not need the VPN license on the SP+ unit.
